Hello! Once again, I must share with us the bad news ... But this time it is not like 'web' theft - this one is more real. Well, being in a store, I came across my works in the form of cards ... I experienced a shock! When I asked the dealer, who distributes the cards - I heard that an independent company, which appeared on the market recently ... Gained to contact them and will explain this matter in a few days ... What does not change the fact that it is a shame.
Is terrible, and totally unpleasant appose end forces you to watermark all your work ....
I attended a lot of comic conventions as speaker, and saw how others had stands where they sold products from business cards, shirts and all kinds of objects, with art that was here in deviantart, recognized him was because many times I see their galleries, is terrible that part where showing your work have a risk to a pirate -unscrupulous people take and realize business with it!
my goodness! its just getting worse. but on the brightside (if there is any -im trying really hard here, haha) think about how amazing and beautiful your work must be that people want to steal it... still. like you said. real shame.
Get a lawyer, if they use your art for profit they should pay you for it.
Anyway, I find it very annoying when people call copyright infringment "theft". It's such a cheap attempt at psychomanipulation. These are separate issues of different nature with separate laws dealing with them.
I was at a photo shop and I was printing my artwork which I was planning to sell on allegro and the guy that worked here was very enthusiastic about it and it got me kinda paranoid about him making his own physical copies of it or leaking the matrix into the internets. I would be rather annoyed if such copyright infringement would occur and would demand him to pay me at least as much as making a graphic on commission with unlimited release rights would cost.
So, I was planning to sell these at Allegro. [link] But I have discovered that I would have to start my own company and pay the gigantic ZUS tax, which I wouldn't be able to afford to pay. So, as an unemployed person, I cant get unemployment benefits, I can't even do small trade, so what a am I supposed to buy food for? This government is so horrible. I hope one day our own Breivik will come and deliver us from them.
Peoples just have no shame and regrets when comes to moneys. They steal everything they can see and can turn this in really ugly manner. Bad thing - its really difficult to bring them to law - well in my country for sure.
Your artwork is like treasure. No one has a right to steal it! Be interesting on a legal perspective what you can do to rectify this situation so this doesn't occur again to you or anybody else Lady2. The pitfalls of internet are many, thanks for sharing the realities of this Lady2. Be sure to keep us updated so artists/ everyone can be more educated from a legal perspective concerning artists work on the internet & internet thieves who get caught & brought to justice. All the best Lady2, you have many of us standing strong behind you & supporting you here
OMG! Hey that's the problem with internet. No matter how you watermark your work, as soon as you uplaod it, anyone can copy or download it and use it. What a shame! Yes please let us know the outcome..
Albo publikuj swoje wszystkie prace w internecie z masakrycznie wielkimi i przeszkadzającymi znakami wodnymi.
Life is brutal and full of zasadzkas, and kopas w dupas sometimes Swoją drogą, ciekaw jestem, jak to robisz, że znajdujesz czas na rysowanie studiując jednocześnie? Pozdrawiam i powodzenia życzę!
Yep, really a shame, I hope you'll get a bit of money from them after a way to resolve the problem in a good way. Feel free to post more postcards from this company here around ; you certainly not the only one to had be stolen.
O_O omg. This is MUCH worse than online theft. They are actually making money off your back with YOUR work WITHOUT your knowledge and even less permission. They are completely infringing your copyright and there is a lawyer here at deviant art who works for deviant art. That company should be in deep trouble for theft of intellectual property - yours.
I am not a lawyer, but since this is such a clear case of theft, it might be worth your time to talk to a good attorney who specializes in intellectual property, if you haven't already done so.
Having a good lawyer in your corner, making the angry phone calls on your behalf, might bring this to a close a lot faster than if you tried to do it all yourself--especially if the thief is in another country.
They can also give you a very clear and complete sense of what your options and best strategies are, if you decide to make those angry calls yourself.
I hope you're able to sort it out to your satisfaction quickly. Please keep us updated; as a community it's good to know what works and what doesn't, against jerks like this.
